You had your ductless AC system installed because of the numerous benefits it provides. But inevitably, there are issues that crop up from time to time. Here are five possible reasons your ductless AC system isn’t properly cooling your Norfolk, VA, home:
Faulty Wiring
If you have wiring issues, some signs include unreliablecooling, functions that don’t work or lack of communication between the remote and the ductless unit. Don’t attempt DIY repair work. Call an experienced HVAC service technician to check the wiring.
Clogged Drain Line
If you have a clogged drain line, this causes water to back up into your home, and you will need to address it immediately. This backup causes water damage to the structure of your home, causing the wood to rot. You can use a little bit of vinegar every three to four months to help keep the drain line clear.
Dirty Air Filters
Dirty air filters not only impact your indoor air quality. They also make it harder for your system to function properly. Regular preventive maintenance includes cleaning or replacing your air filters to make sure that dust, pollen and other contaminants don’t affect the components of your ductless AC system.
Improper Airflow
Another issue you may have is restricted airflow. Make sure there’s nothing on or within two feet of the outdoor unit, as debris and dust affect the unit’s ability to heat or cool.
Refrigerant Issues
Your ductless mini-split uses refrigerant to cool your home, and it circulates through the conduits running between the indoor and outdoor units. If you have a low level of refrigerant or a leak, then your ductless AC system won’t be able to cool properly.
If you experience any problems with your AC system, it’s important to address them right away. Contact our team at BAJA Heating & Cooling today to have a service technician check your ductless AC and get it back into proper working order.
